This is the Estes Nike Smoke Pro Series II scale model Nike Smoke sounding rocket. I launched it for the first time in Berwick, Maine, on a G40-7 composite motor - a beautiful flight. The Jolly Logic Chute Release was set for 400 feet.
The Nike Smoke was a NASA sounding rocket used to test wind shear. Scale models of the Nike Smoke have always been popular model rockets, and this Estes Pro Series rocket is a great one. I fly this almost every time I launch.
This kit is 3 inches in diameter with a 29mm motor tube, so it can be flown on some H and I high power motors. I usually fly it on F or G motors to keep the altitude manageable, and I use a Jolly Logic Chute Release to prevent the rocket from drifting too far under parachute.
The paints used on this rocket were Krylon Color Master Gloss White, Krylon Color Master Gloss Orange, and Krylon Color Master Gloss Sun Yellow. After decals, I applied a matte clear coat, which I think may have been Rust-Oleum, though I can't be sure.
