Glazing and Spot Putty can fix a lot of flaws in a model rocket. From balsa wood grain in fins, to seams in plastic parts, to spiral grooves in the body tube, putty has a lot of uses.
The most commonly used Glazing and Spot Putty is by Bondo, Number 907. But I ran out, and couldn't find a replacement. At an auto parts store, in the body work aisle, I found a Glazing and Spot Putty by Evercoat.
I had never used that brand before, but I am building a V-2 scale model rocket by Estes, and needed some. The rocket had fallen over on the concrete just after I applied Rust-Oleum Filler Primer, and the fin tips got chewed up on the concrete.
It's very frustrating to have a model get damaged before you're even finished building it, and haven't had a chance to launch it yet. Fortunately, there are ways to fix your mistakes.
